With a mid-afternoon departure sailing from Newcastle (North Shields) at 15:00, you have plenty of time to relax aboard your comfortable and spacious ship. On board you can enjoy the live entertainment programme – with dancing to a live band, dine in a choice of restaurants, take in a movie, have a flutter in the casino and enjoy the atmosphere and live music in the pub! Step ashore on day two in Gothenburg for the short transfer by coach to the centrally situated Spar Majorna Hotel for the next two nights. The feature of the break is a visit to the atmospheric Christmas Market at the Liseberg Theme park – right in the heart of Gothenburg. The combination of the joyous Christmas season and Scandinavia's biggest amusement park with wooden cabins offering traditional handicraft, fantastic lighting displays in the trees around the park, Christmas carols and delicious food. Liseberg is decorated with 700 Christmas trees, 6 kilometres of spruce garlands and over three million sparkling lights. The dark winter sky is lit up by the Liseberg Tower, which has been transformed into a gigantic Christmas tree of lights. Around the park, choirs sing traditional Christmas carols, combined with the aromas of waffles mingling with that of candied apples, homemade chocolates and spiced mulled wine. With a full day to explore Gothenburg on day 3, you have time to take in the sights, do some Christmas shopping at the indoor shopping malls of Norstan – Scandinavia’s biggest indoor shopping centre and sample a Saturday night on the town – dining in one of the many excellent restaurants and enjoy the atmosphere and nightlife on the Avenue.
